Think more deeply and work more independently at A level History
through a carefully thought-out enquiry approach from SHP.
Enquiring History: It makes you think! The OFSTED report on school
history suggests that the current generation of A Level students
have been poorly served by exam-based textbooks which spoon-feed
students while failing to enthuse them or develop deeper
understandings of studying History The Schools History Project has
risen to this challenge with a new series for the next generation.
Enquiring History is SHP's fresh approach to Advanced Level History
that aims: - To motivate and engage readers - To help readers think
and gain independence as learners - To encourage enquiry, and
deeper understanding of periods and the people of the past - To
engage with current scholarship - To prepare A Level students for
university Key features of each Student book: - Clear compelling
narrative - books are designed to be read cover to cover -
Structured enquiries - that explore the core content and issues of
each period - 'Insight' panels between enquiries provide context,
overview, and extension - Full colour illustrations throughout

for teachers - Dynamic eBooks for whole class teaching or

French Revolution This title covers the turbulent history of France
from 1774 to 1802 and the revolutionary events and larger than life
individuals whose ideas and actions sent shock waves around Europe.
Each enquiry tackles a discrete topic which together build a
rounded and balanced picture of the causes, the course, the
consequences, and the historiography of the revolution. As William
Doyle puts it: 'There are few periods in history when so many
benevolent intentions led to such unintended chaos and destruction,
...'How and why did this happen? What can we learn from it? What
has the French Revolution got to say to us today? Web-based support

A collection of classic Doctor Who episodes featuring Tom Baker and
Jon Pertwee in the role of the Doctor. In the four-parter 'The
Horns of Nimon', the Skonnon ships have returned to the skies of
Aneth, demanding tribute. But as the final consignment is being
taken to Skonnos, an accident forces the ship off course. In the
six-parter 'The Time Monster', a new invention to transport matter
through time creates a number of disturbing distortions in the
temporal fabric. The Doctor (Jon Pertwee) investigates, and soon
finds himself up against his nemesis, The Master, in a battle to
control a powerful sacred crystal. In the four-parter 'Underworld',
the TARDIS lands the Doctor (Tom Baker) in a Minyan spaceship that
is on a quest to find the Minyan race banks stored in a missing
ship known as the P7E. They eventually find what they are looking
for in a cave system at the centre of a newly-formed planet. But
the P7E's computer has ideas of its own, and doesn't look kindly
upon its new visitors.

Although never a first- or even second-string punk band, London's
Chelsea lasted through a variety of lineups over a number of years,
with growling vocalist Gene October the only constant. 1979's
CHELSEA is their first and possibly their best album. Here Chelsea
favour a slower, more metal-influenced sound than many of their
hyper punk contemporaries, with riff-rockers like "I'm on Fire" and
"Fools and Soldiers" sounding more like Mott The Hoople or Slade
than the Clash. Guitarist Tony James, later co-leader of the
controversial Sigue Sigue Sputnik, plays in a slashing,
riff-oriented style that shows Chelsea's stomping hard rock roots,
while the cover of Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers to Cross" shows a
wider range of influences. This reissue includes four demos of
early Chelsea singles, including an excellent version of the
anthemic "Urban Kids".
